Apples All Around the Common Room
By: Eno Thomas

The monthly Gryffindor special event for March was Apples to Apples. The game is quite popular, so the Gryffindors signed up without hesitating. I wont hide the fact that there were some of them that didn’t know what Apples to Apples was, but I guess they learned it along the way.

This was very difficult to host at first because this is more of a board game and playing it in a forum was kind of confusing, but like my grandfather says there is always a solution. Creating personal sub-forums for every player helped making this game very real and board-ish. Finding all those words for both the Green and Red cards was a pain too but what it counts is that we found them and ran the game all successful. I have to thank a lot of people for this, so look below for it.

The first round consisted of three groups with 6 people each and it lasted 12 full days. Each day one of them was the judge and the others players. As you can see we made it 12 days only for this reason; so that everyone could judge twice. The first two persons in each group passed to the second and final round.

In group 1 was Eia Donne and Tom Foster. Eia was actually the surprise of this event. Everyone was impressed with her winning almost every single day. Tom in the other hand won only in the last day and beat Hailey Potter and Jade Packer.

In the second group the first to pass was Madeline Bronte, an impressive first year who is surprising all of us from day to day. The second was the one and only she wolf, the adorable Lucy Greyback or Lulu.

In the third group the winner was Estelle Lupa with 5 points out of 12. In second place came the oldbie Julie Garnet with 4 points.

So in the final round passed Eia, Tom, Madeline, Lucy, Estelle and Julie. The final round consisted of 12 days like the first round. It really impressed me how it ended though. We had three ties: one for the third place, one for the second and one for the first. Eia Donne and Madeline Bronte ended in the third place with one point. In second place ended Tom Foster and Lucy Greyback with two points and the winner of Gryffindor Apples to Apples were Julie Garnet and Estelle Lupa with three points.

It was a really great final and the result shows it very well. But the most important part of all this was that everyone had fun.

And lastly I want to thank Jenny Lupin, Laurie Lovegood and Maria Vianney Gracia for helping organizing this event, without them I couldn’t have done it.

Apples To Apples apparently addicted a lot of people in Gryffindor. One of the winners, Julie Garnet created an awesome bot that works in IRC. People are still playing there for hours. Is that a Win situation? Yes.

See you in another Gryffindor event,
Eno
