Have You Got What It Takes To Be Part of the Insanity?
By: Joel Aireserkeiel
The Gryffindor Quidditch Team, GQT in short, has been notably popular and well-known for their insanity among the HOL community. For your information, they are a team of handpicked unique peoples, each equipped with unique skills and personalities of their own. Fantabulous group of people. Many Gryffindors wanted to share part of GQT's glory, to be part of the team. However, there were not many that made it through the harsh and deadly tryouts and practices.
According to a statistical research compiled by Professor Dummy Dan in January 1990, about 99.99% of students sorted into HOL Gryffindor were insane, yet only 1% of those insane peoples were selected to be part of GQT. This clearly evidenced that insanity was not the only requirement, as presumed by most of the HOL community. What are the other criterions to join the team? We shall find out!
Everyone, please meet Professor Zenix James, one of the co-captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team.
Joel: Hello, Professor James. Thank you for joining us today. I have a few questions for you. I believe that the GQT captains have been constantly seeking new blood victims to join the team. Do you have any set criterions, in which to pick those new people (apart from being insane)?
Zenix: Uhm. I really don't have any set requirements for people who want to join the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. All they need to do is get 18/30 trivia questions right and they're golden. Of course, players have to bot; that is required. Personally, when I go out onto the field to recruit, I look for good attitudes and personable people since the GQT is a team and everyone needs to get along and work together.
Joel: Wow! *blink* Do you think that those set criterions are too much to ask?
Zenix: Not really. If you want something bad enough, you've got to do what you've got to do to get it. The best things in life normally are the hardest to get or the hardest to work for.
Joel: Why do you think you were selected to be part of the team in the first place?
Zenix: Because I tried out and passed tryouts? That’s pretty much it. Nah, the real story is between myself and Prof. Missa Matz.
Joel: Thank you for your time, Professor James.
Next, we have Kadino Tigano to join us. She, as well leads the GQT alongside with Prof. James.
Joel: Greetings, Ms. Tigano. First of all, I would like to thank you for joining us today. There are a few questions here that I would like to ask, if you don't mind?
Kadina: I guess... I'll have you know, Miss Aireserkeiel that this is an extremely inconvenient time for an interview. We have a match coming up soon and you should be thankful I'm even doing this at all. That being said, proceed.
Joel:Erm, okay. *blinks* Here goes. I know the captains are constantly looking for new peoples to join the team. What kind of peoples are you looking for? (Book-maniac? Vampires? Insomniac?) Why?
Kadina: We're looking mostly for insane people. Of all different shapes, sizes, demeanors... Though between you and me, I do suspect Prof. James is secretly a vampire. No one is that pale!
Joel: Apparently, each GQT member wields a weapon of their choice. Prof. Matz owned a tennis racket of D00m, and Prof. James has a sparkly kawaii puppy by her side all the time. Was that a requirement of a GQT member too?
Kadina: A weapon of choice isn't so much a requirement as a privilege. We can't just allow any new player to have a potentially dangerous weapon at their side. That being said, my own weapon is a bell bandolier. You don't want to come in contact with it, I assure you. Now get back to practice, Aireserkeiel!
Joel: Thank you so much, Ms. Tigano
Obviously, to be part of GQT is not easy at all. Both captains have high expectations of a GQT member. The criterions laid by them, does looked crazy, and any ordinary person should know that all of those criterions would be impossible to appear in one single person. However, "impossible" does not appear in the Gryfftionary (Gryffindor's Dictionary), as "normal" or "ordinary" do not apply to all our fellow Gryffindors.
As of February 2010, the GQT consist of 11 members, with a recent addition to the team, by the name of Alissa Kirby (a third year). So, among the 23389793 Gryffindors currently active in HOL, there are actually 0.01% of them that fits those criterions. Now, that's possible, eh?
However, the question remains. What made it so hard to be part of the team? Being insane is clearly not enough. Apart from the harsh criterions laid down by the co-captains, is there anything else that a GQT member should possess? Let's see what the other current GQT members have to say about this.
Eno: Hmmm... You should totally have 2 special characteristic to join the GQT *nods* 1. Stay up very late (for example, until 8 am). 2. Bribe the Captains with JE boys' photos.
Molly: The ability to bot insane amounts, break multiple school rules, love anime and have a mild fascination with Pi along with whips, chains, and duct tapes.
So to summarize, to be part of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team, one has...
• To get 18/30 trivia questions right in tryout
• To be good attitude and personable people
• To be Insane people (Of all different shapes, sizes, demeanors...)
• The ability to bot insane amounts
• To be able to break multiple school rules
• To love anime
• To have a mild fascination with YamaPi (a member of a NEWS, a J.E. group), along with whips, chains and duct tapes
• To stay up very late (until 8 am, for example…)
• To be able to bribe the captains with J.E. boys' photos
• ... To be continued
The list can go on forever, I swear. I did not manage to capture with whips and chains of course a few more members from the GQT for the interview before the deadline, so I will just stop here. Did I scare you? DID I? No? Yes? Hopefully not! I was trying to impress you, you see! Well, if you would like to know more about the team, you can always contact our co-captains, Kadina Tigano and Zenix James. You should be prepared before you approach them though. Physically and mentally prepared *nods*. Also, the team has a match coming up against the Ravenclaw, on the 20th of March. Everyone really should watch them play in #quidditch, and cheer for them in #grandstand. Hope to see you there!
