Try to sit down in the Gryffindor Common Room once, and just be silent to listen to the sounds around you (yes, I know this is an almost impossible task for a true Gryffindor, but just have a go at it sometime). The first thing you will notice are the unnecessary loud voices of people having a conversation with each other. Like thirty at a time. Resist the urge to go shouting yourself and try to listen to the discussions.
You will find that one topic is discussed a lot by Gryffindors. Since Summer 2008 this topic is Edward Cullen. But, on a close second place there is Quidditch. And of course their lovely Quidditch Team.
The season is almost starting again, with a first match taking place on November 15th between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Often the real Quidditch fans enter the pitch an hour before the game already to catch up with a little pre-game house bashing chatter. Full of expectations you see all heads turn when the referee enters the pitch. You try to recognise her, from such a distance that is quite a hard job. And then the referee shouts through the megaphone “I am NOT gonna ref unless I can fly on Edward,” which is kind of a giveaway.
So, half an hour later, when some Gryffindors succeeded in rushing to their Common Room to get the dratted Cullen to the pitch and convince him to fly Zenix around, giving aforementioned the message that a broomstick with a mind is not something you should want, the game can start.
The 15th of November is a date many people are looking forward to, especially those who have never seen Quidditch played. It is a date that many marked in their diaries as “Scary Maya Day”. And some marked it just as “Quidditch Match” of course (those boring people like BaPo).
Also for the Gryffindor Quidditch Team the season has started again. They practice hard, about seven times a week, so they are fully prepared for their first match. When people are sneaking to the pitch while Gryffindor is practicing they are in deep trouble. Normally they end up in the hospital wing with obvious traces of being provoked by Zenix and Barbara.
When there is lack of people at practice Zenix tends to use Edward as seeker against Jenny. Something that is really getting on the nerves of the rest of the team. Especially seeing the guy doesn’t need a broom to fly. But when Zee forces us to like him in an unhealthy way as well they protest.
The Gryffindor Quidditch Team has been a pain in the butt for the members of the Quidditch Department. There are several common complaints towards the team; leaving empty butterbeer bottles on the pitch and the dressing rooms smelling like Gyoza are the lesser complaints. I will not expatiate about the rest, seeing also First Years are reading this newspaper. And we would not want them to leave Gryff, now would we?
There is a lot to say about the Game of Quidditch and the role of Gryffindor in that play. But one thing should absolutely be mentioned: without hard-working fabulous people there would be no Gryffindor Quidditch Team bribery \o/. And we hope to have those people around for a long time after!
