Sunday afternoon of April the 13th was full of unexpected and unusual events for the Gryffindor House. For once there were no squirrels, NONE at all running around the common room, Emerson was wearing PANTS and Selena and Missa had a Celine Dion CD and they were NOT attempting to destroy it!
If you don’t think that’s weird, wait until you hear what happened next. As you all know, house meetings are held EVERY second Sunday of the month (in this case the 13th). Around noon all the prefects were waiting in the war room, extremely hungry because the marshmallow pies had mysteriously disappeared. Rob was heading towards the kitchen in order to bribe some house elves when a gigantic basket of delicious éclairs appeared in the front of the hidden entrance of the war room. Rob returned to the room filled with happiness and waving the basket around. The rest of the prefects tackled Rob to the ground and jumped on the basket leaving no survivors. In less than 2 minutes all the precious éclairs were gone. And that my friends, is the last thing your wonderful prefects remember.
When they woke up 5 hours later… they were no longer in the war room. It was 4.30 PM when Paddy regained consciousness and rushed to the house meeting only to find no one was there. Kiara woke up very confused and found herself in what seemed to be the Hufflepuff tower, she saw Missa laying next to her and tried to wake her up, but couldn’t. Suddenly a weird bird-like sound was heard in the background. Kiara turned around and saw… SEAGULLS! Dozens of them were guarding the room’s windows. She tried to open the door but it was locked, so she started searching for her wand in her robes and noticed it was gone.
“What the heck?!” said Kiara to herself. She was trapped with Missa in a room that she didn’t remember going into with no wand and seagulls guarding the windows when she was supposed to be at the house meeting with the other prefects and Gryffindors.
She shook Missa once more to wake her up and as she did a tiny bottle with alka seltzer fell to the ground. Missa was as always armed against seagulls. Kiara searched inside her robes to see if she had some éclairs left and put stuffed the alka seltzer inside them to trick the seagulls. She left the éclairs on the window frame and the seagulls ate them to the last bite (who could blame them, they were absolutely wonderful!). A couple of minutes later, the seagulls were all dead and Kiara made a run for it, deciding that since she couldn’t wake Missa up she was going to find out what on earth was going on and come back for Missa later.
She climbed out the window and started running towards the Gryffindor Tower, she saw her watch and it was already 5 PM. The house meeting was supposed to start at 3. She tripped with something and saw that it wasn’t something, but someone. She turned the person around and saw that it was Rob lying unconscious on the grounds. She woke him up and explained what had happened to her and that Missa was still in the Hufflepuff tower. Rob told her that there was definitely something weird going on and that they should go get help and see if the other prefects were alright.
When they finally got to the tower, they immediately entered the meeting room and sighed relieved to see that Paddy was there.
“What happened?” said Rob and Kiara.
“Are you alright?” asked Paddy.
“Last thing I remember is us eating éclairs in the war room and then I woke up somewhere really weird,” said Kiara and Paddy at the same time.
She told Paddy what had happened to her and Paddy told them that something similar had happened to him though he had woke up near Slytherin and not in Hufflepuff.
“Something extremely odd is going on.”
“We have to go and get Missa, god knows what’s happening,” and as the 3 were heading towards the door, it suddenly slammed open. Airemay rushed into the room.
“What happened to the meeting? Did I miss it? I’m sorry I must have fallen asleep and dream walked to the Hufflepuff common room.”
The others explained to Airemay that she probably did not dream walked all the way there (though since it was Airemay that wouldn’t be so unusual) and that they didn’t quite understand what was happening and they should try to get Missa and find the other prefects.
They decided it’d be best to split into groups of 2. Paddy and Rob would go find the others and Airemay and Kiara would go to get Missa. “Do you have your wands?”
“Er…” they all searched for their wands “No.”
“I have a spare one upstairs in my room, do you all have one too?” asked Airemay.
The other three nodded and the four went to get their spare wands and also made a small stop in the artillery room. If there were seagulls involved, this probably wasn’t something good and they were going to need their beautiful weaponry.
Kiara and Airemay climbed through the window which Kiara had climbed out of to escape and saw that Missa was waking up. They quickly explained that something had happened to all the Gryffindor Prefects, that seagulls were involved and that the others, except for Rob and Paddy, were still missing.
Missa looked at them with a puzzled look and started putting two and two together. “Eclairs, Hufflepuff tower… don’t you see it? Emily did this to us!”
Airemay and Kiara looked at each other and than at Missa “Wait, why would Emmy do something like this to us?” said Airemay.
“Where’s Jessa?” said Missa, “She can prove I’m right about this. She wasn’t in the war room when the éclairs arrived, she was working on the Paw Print; she didn’t have any. If nothing happened….”
“Can we have this conversation someplace else? Whoever did this to us obviously around here somewhere, we should probably get out of here fast,” said Kiara and started climbing out the window again. Missa and Airemay followed and they ran to the Gryffindor Tower, to the Paw Print editing room.
Jessabella was effectively in the editing room, swamped in Paw Print work and staring at some Muffins some Ravenclaw had dropped off in Rae’s and Sherry’s room. She had entered the room when Rae and Sherry were eating them and asked if she could take a few with her since she was starving and was going to be working on the Paw Print late and wasn’t even going to be able to grab a bite at the House Meeting since she wasn’t going to attend it. Missa, Airemay and Kiara entered the room and sighed in relief when they saw Jessa was there.
“See, I was right! Jess is perfectly fine. It WAS the éclairs and Emily is behind all this.” Jessa looked at the 3 with a suspicious look and asked, lifting an eyebrow, what was going on. They started by saying that they weren’t quite sure yet, but they had reason to believe there was a conspiracy against the Gryffindor Prefects and that it involved the Seagulls and the Hufflepuff House, well at least Emily Johnson.
Rob and Paddy were back, they had searched the entire castle for the others and had found Amelie and Jessie in the Slytherin Tower and Emerson and Kelly in one of the greenhouses.
“Great, you got Missa.” said Paddy. “We found them in Slytherin and the greenhouses...”
Airemay interrupted “Did you just say Slytherin?”
“So, they are in this too…” said Jessa.
“Well duh! Didn’t Paddy say he woke up near Slytherin? I wonder who else is behind this,” said Missa.
“Whoever it was wasn’t that smart. They didn’t take out Jess or Sherry and Rae,” added Kiara.
“Unless… they didn’t want to take out Jess and where are Sherry and Rae anyways?” wondered Emerson.
“We couldn’t find them,” said Rob, “And we searched everywhere.”
“Er…No, we didn’t. We couldn’t enter Ravenclaw remember?” said Paddy.
“Yeah but they didn’t eat the éclairs, plus I doubt Ravenclaw is behind this.” said Aire.
“Well they are still missing aren’t they?” said Missa.
“Wait a minute, the Muffins!” screamed Kiara. “They didn’t have éclairs but they had Muffins! Ravenclaws! Of course! Jess did you eat the Muffins yet?”
“No” replied Jessa. “I haven’t.”
“Come on guys, get your wands and let’s march into Ravenclaw to get our PoG’s” said Emerson.
All ten marched to the Ravenclaw tower only to find it was deserted, they heard some strange banging noises from the floor, moved one of the carpets and found a trapdoor. Amelie and Kelly used their wands to open it and inside they found Rae and Sherry who were still deeply asleep. They levitated them with a spell and carried them to the Gryffindor Tower.
They waited for Rea and Sherry to wake up hopefully they’d have some answers. They knew it was the Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, that they had poisoned them with éclairs and muffins and that the seagull mafia was involved. After a couple of hours they finally did and they all started working on trying to solve the mystery.
“I still don’t know why they didn’t try to take out Jess,” said Airemay.
“The only connection I can think of is that Jess wasn’t going to attend the house meeting,” said Rob.
“Well…but why would they want to stop our house meeting that badly?” said Jessa.
“House meetings are where we work out our house problems and come up with our ideas and projects, they are one of the most important things we do. We can’t afford to cancel them,” explained Sherry.
“Gryffindor is getting stronger and we are working harder all the time. We are climbing back to the top. And like Sherry said, we can’t afford to cancel a house meeting. It sets us back a lot,” added Rae.
“Ravenclaw might have done it for the avatars, they still think we stole that from them,” said Airemay.
“Slytherin might still be angry at us for the last boot and purses sale…” said Amelie and everyone turned and looked at Kiara who gave them her most innocent look and smiled sweetly.
“Hufflepuff is probably angry because of that little mascot incident,” said Emerson laughing and they all started laughing too as they remembered the time when Kenna snuck into their common room and replaced the badger with a racoon the day before their quidditch match against Slytherin and it appeared hanging from one of the poles wearing a Gryffindor cheerleading outfit right before the match started.
“And seagulls don’t need a reason, they ARE seagulls after all,” added Rob. “Plus I’m guessing they don’t like the house of the squirrels very much. Then again, the it is mutual.”
“Getting seagull help is sooo low though!” said Kiara angrily.
“Don’t worry. We’ll get them back,” said Missa. “I promise” and grinned evilly.
