Bandwidth Problems On The HOL Forum!
With all of the newbies signing up for HOL the use of bandwidth has sky rocketed. You might have noticed that the HOL site was not working for a time because we had reached our bandwidth limit. There is a signature limit located here. (If you cannot view this post, then please check the Announcements area in the HOL forum.)
However, we ask that all you Gryffindor's make a conscientious decision and either delete any pictures in your signature or delete you signature all together so that this never happens again. Another reason the bandwidth has been reached is because there are many students (and yes, some Gryffindor's) who make over 30 posts a day. Some post 100 times! Really, is it necessary to post that many times in one day. There isn't that much to talk about.

Staying Active In HOL
Do you think you are active at HOL and really aren't? How do you know if you are active or not? The Headmaster has graciously told us what it means to be "active" at HOL. All the detail can be found is this post. (If you cannot access this post, then please check the Announcements in the HOL forum.)

Last Day for Class sign-ups!
Remember! Last day to sign up for a class is 7 February! All students who haven't got at least one class will be set to quit on our student list. If you are in danger of being set to quit because you do not have a class you will receive an email about this shortly.

Bad Singers Everywhere!
The Paw Print would like to remind everyone, that if you are a bad singer, DON’T SING! We’ve been hearing people in the showers a lot lately who sound like Celine Dion. ONE IS ENOUGH! Our suggestion is, if you are a bad singer, but love to sing: Go take lessons.

What *is* SPAM?
Our Head of House would like everyone out there to be aware of what SPAM is defined as. This should be applied to the Gryffindor Common Room board, as well as the HOL boards. SPAM *can* lose you points if you are persistent in doing it.

"SPAM can be a lot of things: useless or pointless posts, especially anything whose sole purpose in life is to hike up your post count to get a broom, like lightning rounds. On the forum boards, campaigning for prefect, quidditch captain, etc. will be considered SPAM. SPAM will lose house points!

One word post, multiple one word posts, simple "I agree" posts, creating new threads that ask questions that have already been answered in the FAQ, discussing your broom, your lack thereof, the arrival of your new broom, the impending arrival of a new broom, etc., etc… is all considered SPAM, but is by no means an exclusive list. If you're not contributing anything to the discussion, don't post! You may lose points for it. At the very least, you risk irking your fellow schoolmates and professors. Remember that the boards will soon be managing 3000 registered students. Keeping the chaff (SPAM and junk) down will help ensure the grain (good discussion) doesn't get lost in the jumble. Or maybe what's there is enough!"

Another thing that is considered spam: posting in month old threads that have no revelance. I have caught three people doing this. Don't. Even if you are just catching up, don't post."

Paw Print Wants You
Paw Print is looking for three to five dedicated writers to join its rank. These people need to have a good grasp of the English language, be able to work and complete things before a deadline and be able to follow directions. They also need to be able to access rapidforum accounts, as well as invison board accounts.

These people would be working in the News Department. They would only have to write one article a month, unless they feel they are able to do more. Assignments are posted at the end of every month and are due approximately three weeks later. Last minute articles are handed out throughout the month, but not often.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the Paw Print, then please send an email to missa@gundamwing.net with the subject: PP staff reporter. Please be sure to include your HOL name and ID for verification purposes, as well as a small paragraph explaining why you would be a welcome addition into our home. Please note that spelling and grammar will be looked at.
