By now, all of the Gryffindor's have noticed the hectic activity around our little section of Hogwarts. Some students seeming to carry their trunks with them at all times. This was a test from our prefects to see how the new dorms would be functioning, before they let the whole of the house into them. The scurrying back and forth between the old common room and the new common room. The bribes going out between people so that they get placed into dorm rooms with those they like. If you haven't seen any of these happenings, then you have obviously been under a rock for the last week.
For the Mane Topic this month, we at the Paw Print went behind the scenes looking for some of these rumored occurrences. What we found was astonishing and even illegal on school grounds. Hold on to your hats, cubbies, it may be a wild ride. Or if you are as crazy as these Gryffindor's, then a normal day for you.
First, we followed the packing and moving process of some of the Gryffindor's that were selected for this early trial run. We started with Emerson Potter who was looking for a whole new look to go with his new dorm room. We watched as he scrapped most of his old clothing, stating that they did not match the color scheme that was wanted his new room to have. As he was moving his now half-full trunk to the new dorms he told us, "All I need to do now is make a request in the new dorms for some dresses. I know my friends will flock to my aid." Emerson decided to choose a room for himself to insure that he had plenty of closet space. That was changed later however, when Seven Ashitaka was looking for a roommate, but we'll get into that later.
Next, we watched as Merlinda Gandore chased a rather large piece of paper around the common room. It flew underneath one of the large, fluffy chairs and when she finally managed to pull it out, she started petting it. We can only assume that it was one of her pet squirrels because otherwise we would need to request psychiatric help. She kept putting odd objects into boxes with holes in them, but every time she turned her back (once was to pick up a silver ribbon), at least one object from the box would some how make its way out. This continued on until Selena Astralis came over and assisted her. Then they both started petting the objects.
Speaking of Selena, we followed her for days on end trying to locate where her secret Remus Lupin cloning facility was. Unfortunately, we never were able to find the location. Well, that is not entirely accurate. We saw where all her cloning material had been hidden (it was behind the wall in the boys bathroom), but as we tried to follow her to find out where the new location would be, she disappeared. We assume that she has an Invisibility Cloak of some sort.
After this, we decided to watch the process of people actually moving into the dorms, and some of the activities that were already taking place. Seven Ashitaka was pulling two trunks filled with weaponry into the boy's side of the dorm. We watched as Emerson came to help him and then as a conversation bloomed, they decided to be roommates. However, Seven wanted to live in room 2777, and Emerson was already assigned to room 2001. After a bit of bribery and a fashion show, they managed to get the room switch. This is not a common occurrence and will not normally be tolerated, however, since this was just a testing period.
Up in what is deemed; "The Prefects Room", by some of the other students there was a hockey game going on in the halls already. Many people dropped what they were doing to get involved with the bashing. The game has been going on for a while, but so far no one has scored. They're just chasing each other around with hockey sticks.
In the last room we visited we witnessed quite a few illegal activities. Room 1666 is occupied by Jessabella Black, Kiara Bell, Missa Matz and Kitty Monroe. We have special permission to enter their room, as they all work on the Paw Print. Now, as we all know, you cannot have boys in a girl's dorm room. At least not overnight. We had heard rumors that they were keeping boys in their closet. We could confirm hearing male voices coming from the room, but when we went to inspect it, we could find no one, nor any evidence that boys were residing there. However, on one of the walls we saw unfinished stories written in non-washable crayola crayon. The crayon was directly on the wall mind you, so if Apollyon Pringle spots it, things could get messy.
We can only hope that the next waves of Gryffindor's are not quite as excitable
or as weird as the trial group.
